Here’s what we’ll cover in this class: Basic introduction to our sewing machines Introduction to the bucket hat pattern Measuring your head size Choosing the right pattern size Cutting paper patterns and fabrics, learn about grain Constructing the hat crown and lining Using fusible interfacing on brim fabric Constructing the brim and sewing it to crown Top stitching the brim Sewing grosgrain ribbon into head sizing Trimming the hat Sewing machines, tools, and fabric will be provided, just bring yourself! What we provide: Pattern, fabric and fusible interfacing Sewing machine, threads, scissors, etc. Expert guidance! What you need to already know: Basic sewing machine experience required. If you’re starting from zero we suggest taking the Sewing 101 class first. What you need to bring: sewing machine (optional) water bottle reading glasses fabric (*optional) *Bring your own fabric if you’d like! 1/4 yard fabric should be enough for the crown and brim. The fabric needs to be firm and crisp. Not too heavy and thick. You may also wish to bring your choice of fusible interfacing and 1/8 yard fabric for the lining.
