First off, no these are not 3M. They might use the 3M adhesive (Not sure) but they are not 3M as I have the real 3M ones and they are different. The real 3M ones are thicker, weigh slightly more, and have better adhesion but the adhesive itself is very similar. Maybe 3M uses more adhesive overall.So now that we know they are probably not quite the sturdiest out there, how do we make these work the best the can?1. When you are cleaning the mating surfaces, clean off all the normal stuff with soap and water and let it dry completely. If you need to use a heat gun or hair dryer, go ahead. Do not proceed to the next step until everything is totally dry.2. Spray the surfaces with denatured alcohol or similar to take off any final soap residue or the like to give yourself a pristine mating service. This makes the biggest difference hands down.3. Put down one side on the pristine surface and let it mate. Push against it for at least 30 seconds to make sure it stays in place. If you can, let it set for another 10 minutes or so. This also helps to make sure it’s got a good seal.4. Do the same with whatever else you are sticking to now. Clean, alcohol, set, press and wait.Bonus tip: When removing the backing from the tape, lift, don’t pry. Use the head of a screwdriver, a knife or something like that to start a corner of the tape. Keep your hands off it as much as possible as the oils from your fingers just ruins the adhesion.So far these have been great for the price but they aren’t quite as forgiving as the more expensive kind that use more adhesive.I hope this helps!
